A PROFLIFIC shoplifter with a drink problem has been banned from supermarkets after causing distress to customers and staff.

Faye Jackson, 50, of Lower Priest Lane, Pershore has now been banned from a string of supermarkets including Tesco Express in Foregate Street in Worcester and three others in Pershore.

The ban comes as part of a three year criminal behaviour order (CBO) granted on April 16. She has been subject to previous, similar orders in the past.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said:  "The CBO was granted on the conviction of a number of thefts from store where Jackson is often intoxicated and behaves antisocially in the shops causing alarm harassment and distress to staff and customers."

By the terms of the CBO, Jackson is prohibited from:

  • Entering Tesco Express, High Street, Pershore
  •  Entering Asda, King Georges Way, Pershore
  • Entering Savers, High Street, Pershore
  • Entering Tesco Express, Foregate Street, Worcester
  • Consuming alcohol or being in possession of an open vessel of alcohol inside any retail premises not licensed for the consumption of alcohol.

We have previously reported on Jackson's antisocial antics in Pershore. In 2021 we reported how Jackson had, according to police, become a nuisance in the town, asking people to buy booze for her. She was then also placed under tougher restrictions to help improve her behaviour as part of an earlier CBO.

This also placed on her a number of prohibitions, including a ban on her entering certain supermarkets or loitering around outside.

The measure was taken after police became increasingly concerned about her repeat offending, including stealing alcohol.

A spokesman for West Mercia Police said in 2021: "She was sentenced for a total of 23 charges, predominantly related to theft of alcohol and breaches of a community protection notice that had been placed on her in May this year in an attempt by the police to tackle her drunken anti-social behaviour in Pershore.

"She would regularly approach people to ask them to buy her alcohol as well as stagger in and out of the roads intoxicated and going into shops that she has been banned from due to her drunken behaviour."

The court issued her with a community order working with the probation service and granted the CBO for two years.

By that order, granted by magistrates, she is banned from: entering Tesco Express, High Street, Pershore or loitering outside; entering Asda, King Georges Way, Pershore or loitering outside; approaching members of the public to ask them to buy alcohol for her; consuming alcohol or being in possession of an open container of alcohol in any public place save for premises where the consumption of alcohol is permitted.
